WE ARE MAKING ETERNAL INVESTMENTS

Leaving A Legacy
For The Church After Us

In 1879, this island was purchased and founded as a Christian seaside resort & meeting place.
Our plan is to bring the island back to those roots.

Give Toward the LegacyWatch State Of The Church

God has been pruning us the past several years and now our church is starting to blossom in new ways, with new growth and fruit, because of it.

This is our vision for the future.

In a world full of isolation & loneliness, we aspire to be a bridge that leads people to Biblical community and relationship.

In a culture of lies & misinformation, we want to be a pillar of Biblical truth to educate the generation of today and the generation to come.

In our unique geographical area of the North East, where hearts are cold and belief in self is much greater than belief in God, we desire to be a place where the love of Christ is evident and the hope of Christ is received.

And in Ocean City and the surrounding towns, we want to lead the charge of helping our community prosper and experience life by caring for the homeless, widowed, orphaned and needy, and being the voice of truth in the public square.

BUILDING LANDMARK WALLS

A bold vision like this requires action.
Not action from some, but action from all.

God is calling each one of us to pray and consider how we would invest in what needs to be sowed today, so what is reaped down the road has eternal benefit.

THE PART YOU PLAY
We desire to raise $5 million to put toward our two projects: Landmark Cafe & the Life Center. These two endeavors are the first major projects in the history of our church. They also directly impact our vision of a church campus across the island of Ocean City, NJ.

HOW WILL YOU  CONTRIBUTE TO THIS VISION?

SACRIFICIAL GIVING OR FIRST TIME GIVING

To see this ambitious goal come to fruition, we need everyone to get behind this in some form or fashion. For those of you that are already contributing to Landmark, we’re asking you to sacrificially give toward this goal as you recognize the wonderful things God has done and is doing within our body.

If you’ve never contributed toward Landmark through regular giving/tithe, we’re asking you to set up a monthly amount as a recurring gift. Biblically, a tithe isn’t about the amount of money you give, but about the heart behind the gift. However, as a general rule, the word “tithe” actually, biblically, means giving 1/10th (or 10%) of your income or resources.

God is Paving the Way

We have explored many different options throughout the years to expand our footprint and give our ministries more room to educate our children, raise the next generation, care for the needy, and give our staff office space. But, all of the potential properties thus far have returned null & void.

Recently, however, God has opened doors that we never anticipated.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

There are more, unconventional, ways to give toward the legacy initiative. If you’re looking to give via these other methods, please contact us at finance@thelandmark.church and specify which method you’re interested in using.

Stock

Donate stock holdings directly to Landmark through our broker. Contact our office to proceed.

If you sell appreciated stock and donate the cash proceeds, you may be subject to long term capital gains taxes which can be up to 20% of the appreciated value.  If you donate the stock directly to the church, you can avoid that tax altogether and make your gift go further!

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds, or DAFs, allow donors to make charitable contributions to a public charity, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to other organizations like Landmark Church.

IRA Accounts

Are you subject to required minimum distributions from your IRA account? A qualified charitable distribution to Landmark Church can satisfy all or part of the amount of your required minimum distribution from your IRA, helping you to avoid income taxes on an otherwise taxable distribution.

Other Non-Cash Gifts

We are also able to accept other non-cash gifts, such as real estate, business interests, personal property, restricted securities, estate gifts, retirement plans, and life insurance.

FAQs

How can you find out more information?

We’ll be updating our congregation from time to time with updates along this journey. In the meantime, if you have a specific question, you can reach out to us at finance@thelandmark.church.

What is the sequence, timeline, & cost of the projects?

Our first goal is to raise $1.4 million needed to finish Landmark Cafe (710 Asbury Ave) so we can open it to the public and use the profit to put back into the ministry. Our ideal timeline is to open the cafe sometime in the Fall of 2024.

Our second goal is to raise $3.6 million needed to pay off the mortgage of the Life Center we’ve recently acquired so that we are able to remove storage units (from the storage business we’ve also acquired) and begin renovations to the first, second, and third floors. Our ideal timeline is to pay down or completely pay off the mortgage as soon as possible so that we can begin renovations immediately. We do not have a timeline for renovations.

What other solutions were considered before making these advancements?

Through the years, we had been actively seeking to find a bigger building that would house our ever-growing ministries.  Although it was our heart’s desire to stay on the island, the search was difficult due to low inventory and high real estate prices.  So, knowing that we needed to find a facility for expansion, we decided to venture into Somers Point.  The vision was well received.  We found land and the church raised the funds to purchase it, along with blueprints to build a new facility.

But, thankfully we serve a God who neither slumbers nor sleeps and sets His guard over His people.  As we prayed through this exciting process, the Lord moved the church in a different direction.

This resulted in a rebranding of our church mission; and a renewed commitment to healthy foundations of biblical practices, prayerful pursuits, and accountability within our leadership teams.  The rebranding led us to renaming our fellowship The Landmark Church.

This commitment undergirded our desire to look for other options that would expand our space while keeping us on the island, where we have always felt called to be.  We were reminded that we serve a God of the impossible.

Recently, leadership had an opportunity to purchase 910 Asbury to give our Family Life Center a new, more usable space. Although the footprint was similar to the existing life center, leadership knew how desperate we were for a more spacious area to conduct ministry. Again, God’s loving intervention closed the doors because the banks would not loan us the money to pay for the mortgage.  What we thought was a disappointing situation was actually God working on our behalf towards His perfect plan.

Almost immediately after the doors were shut on 910 Asbury,  the owner of the building that houses our current Family Life Center (which also houses the owner’s business, the Storage Inn II) called to ask if we had interest in purchasing the building and the business. He did not want to put it on the market and only wanted to offer it to us. It must be noted that we had sought this property for many years but to no avail.  God had never opened the door...until now. By God’s grace, the same bank that denied us a mortgage for 910 Asbury was the same bank to offer us a mortgage for the purchase of both the building and the storage business because of the cash flow the business brings in.

We now have fully acquired this 34,000+ square feet building and the storage business (now called Landmark Storage Inn). As a church community, there are no better words to sum up this miraculous purchase except through Ephesians 3: 20-21:  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

How did we come to the conclusion on cost?

The cost was derived from a mixture of hard costs (like our mortgage and equipment costs) and renovation estimates from trustworthy advisors within our church.

How long will I be able to give toward this initiative?

Although we’d like to hit our ultimate goal in 12 months, there will still be an opportunity to give toward each fund after the fact.

Do you accept other contributions besides cash, check, or credit card payments?

Yes we do! Visit ways to give and scroll down for “Other Ways to Give.”

Should I redirect my regular tithes and contributions to this initiative?

We are asking that you prayerfully consider giving to the initiative in addition to, not instead of, your regular tithes and contributions to our general fund.
